Alternative Learning Programs

Leander ISD serves high school students through New Hope High School during the school day and the Twilight Program in the evening.

Early College High School

The Early College HS initiative is an open-enrollment program that blends college and high school coursework, enabling students to earn up to two years of college credit (60 hours), tuition-free, while enrolled in high school.

New Hope High School

New Hope HS is a small school environment with supportive teachers and a self-paced curriculum In 1997, the promise of an alternative route to high school graduation started with a single teacher, who was fully committed to helping students graduate.

Today, LISD continues to provide an alternative way for students to complete their high school education through a self-paced, teacher-facilitated online curriculum with opportunities for small group learning experiences.

Twilight Program

The Leander Independent School District Twilight Program was established to meet the needs of students who need an alternative to the traditional high school campus in order to meet Texas graduation requirements. Any LISD senior at risk of not graduating in four years may be able to utilize this program.

The Twilight Program is facilitated by highly qualified LISD teachers who actively assist students in their learning.

Advanced Academics

Advanced academic programs are a high priority in Leander ISD, offering an academic challenge to our brightest, most-creative students. Leander ISD wants each child to be challenged to learn to his or her maximum abilities.

AVID

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college-readiness system designed to help schools prepare all students for college, careers, and life. Although AVID serves all students, it targets students in the academic middle, underachievers, and/or students with limited or no exposure to college preparatory information. The formula is simple – raise expectations of students and, with the AVID support system in place, they will rise to the challenge.

Career & Technical Education (CTE)

All students have the opportunity to enroll in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses along with the more traditional core academic courses. CTE courses are designed to provide an authentic learning experience through academically rigorous and technology-rich curriculum and real-world applications. Ideally, students create balanced four-year plans that include the best of both academic and CTE classes.
