How do I start the registration process?

To be considered for the Employee Tuition PreK program, families must attend a mandatory orientation meeting. Please contact the Early Childhood Department to schedule this meeting. After the meeting employees will be sent the Tuition PreK application. Upon receiving a spot in the program, families must complete the Leander ISD new student online enrollment forms for PreK. The Early Childhood Community registrar will determine that the child does not qualify for free PreK. After confirmation from the registrar, a district staff member will send the family a Tuition PreK Contract, the program guidelines, and the payroll deduction paperwork.

Community members interested in Tuition PreK will first complete the Leander ISD new student online enrollment forms for PreK. After Employee’s children and qualifying children are placed, a lottery will be held to randomly select community members for Tuition PreK. Upon receiving a spot in the program, the Early Childhood Community registrar will determine that the child does not qualify for free PreK. After confirmation from the registrar, a district staff member will send the family a Tuition PreK Application, contract, and the program guidelines.

If there are more interested families than there are spaces available across the district, a random selection process will be conducted. The Early Childhood Community registrar will determine that the child does not qualify for free PreK. After confirmation from the registrar, the Early Childhood Department will hold a random selection process for open seats.

After the first round of the random selection process is completed, Tuition PreK applications will continue to be accepted. Students will be accepted or placed on a waitlist based on availability.

How will I know where Tuition PreK is available?

When a child’s name is randomly selected for a seat in Tuition PreK through the lottery, a district employee will contact the family to let them know which campus has a seat available. Families must provide their own transportation for students in Tuition PreK.

If the child attends PreK at a campus other than their home campus and the family wishes to keep the child at the same campus for kindergarten, they must complete a transfer application. If the campus is closed to transfers, the child will return to their home zoned campus for kindergarten.

If you have additional questions about the tuition program, please contact Sarah Walker at 512-570-0360 or [email protected].
