Leander ISD students have First Amendment rights and may exercise those rights in a peaceful, non-disruptive manner at our school activities. This includes taking a knee or choosing not to participate during the national anthem prior to football games.
Part of empowering our young people as they grow and lead is having meaningful dialogue about issues that matter to them. A student’s decision about whether to take part in patriotic pre-game ceremonies is protected as free speech, and LISD will continue to allow students to express themselves in accordance with those rights.
